Why theoretical physics?

Theoretical physics employs mathematical models and abstractions of physics in an attempt to explain natural phenomena. Modern theoretical physics attempts to unify theories and explain phenomena to understand the universe, from the cosmoloqical to the elementary particle scale and beyond. Where experimentation cannot be performed, theoretical physics uses mathematical language to advance theories. Economically, theoretical physics is the lowest-cost research area with the huge impact. Without our understanding on the basic levels how nature works, current technologies such as computer, wireless devices, or solar cells would not have been available. Of course, the advances our understanding of things around us would provide seeds for the forthcoming technologies, i.e., quantum technologies based on entanglement. Thus a better understanding of the underline working mechanisms of the universe allows us to build more advanced machines and technologies.
 
There are so many important components to a successful physics program for doing frontier research that we(IF) cannot arrange with the government funds: scholarships and fellowships for graduate students, faculty and student travel to conferences, visiting speakers. Contributions from you can improve the ability of the IF to provide physics experiences that are essential to the development of our students. Please consider including IF among your annual list of donations. Your tax-deductible donation will be acknowledged with letters from IF.
 
How to donate
 
The Institute for Fundamental Study (IF), Naresuan University offers a wide range of giving options and funding arrangements that help meet each donor’s charitable goals and financial planning needs while meeting the Department’s priorities.
 
Donating types

1. Supporting scholarships for graduate students the Institute for Fundamental Study, Naresuan University

  1. Type A supporting scholarships throughout the course (full grant, free)
    – Master’s degree. Education fee 130,000 baht/course.
    – Doctoral degree. Education fee 300,000 baht/course.
  2. Type B support scholarship (Discontinued).

2. Provide funding to support the college's academic activities (material costs, equipment costs, other expenses)

  1. Donate money from 30,000 baht or more will receive logo advertising on the website www.if.nu.ac.th and on the college live and vinyl banners for college activities for 12 months.
  2. Donate money from 20,000 baht or more will receive logo advertising on the website www.if.nu.ac.th and on the college live for 12 months.
  3. Donate money from 10,000 baht or more will receive logo advertising on the website www.if.nu.ac.th for 12 months.
