IF Colloquium No.15 – An exposition of quantum groups and quantum symmetric pairs

📣 IF invites you to the No.15 IF Colloquium (Online Seminar Series)

📌 Title : ” An exposition of quantum groups and quantum symmetric pairs “

📌 Speaker : Korkeat Korkeathikhun, Ph.D. in Mathematics at University of North Carolina, USA, Research Fellow, Department of Mathematics, National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore

📌 Abstract : In 1985, a quantum group was introduced by Drinfeld and Jimbo independently in the theory of quantum integrable systems. It was used to construct solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equations. It also has been related to many area studies such as statistical mechanics, conformal field theory and knot theory. Afterwards, one can regard quantum groups purely as an object in Lie theory. In this exposition, I present the notion of the deformation or quantization of some algebraic objects toward the definitions of quantum groups and quantum symmetric pairs of certain types. If time permits, I will introduce the generalization of Schur-Weyl duality.
