IF Colloquium No.3 – ” The Origin of Electrons and Positrons “

📣 IF invites you to the No.3 IF Colloquium (Online Seminar Series)
📌 Title: ” The Origin of Electrons and Positrons “
📌 Speaker: Maneenate Wechakama, Ph.D.
(Lecturer in Physics, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand)
📌 Abstract: The origin of cosmic-ray electrons and positrons is a mystery. We are searching for explanations of electrons and positrons in the Milky Way, including their origin and distribution. We have proposed that the electrons and positrons excess in the solar neighbourhood can be explained by dark matter and nearby pulsars. Assuming electrons and positrons produce gamma-ray via, e.g., inverse Compton scattering and synchrotron radiation, we have also used Fermi-LAT gamma-ray all-sky maps to explain the distribution of electrons and positrons in the Milky Way.
