Seminar OrganiserPlease feel free to contact Artit Hootem for more information.

Seminar is in Thai and it takes place at room Sc 5-315 or Slope Physics 2nd floor from 12.00-13.00.
Seminar organizer: Artit Hootem
All are welcome. This seminar aims at introductory level.

Lunch is allowed to be taken in the seminar. Until Series XVI, seminars were given in English. From Series XVII, they are given in Thai for 45 minutes and concluded in English in the short-talk style for 15 minutes. The Tah Poe Seminar Series is the oldest seminar series in Naresuan University. It has been running continuously since the end of 2003.

Wed, 22 Jun 2005**What is Manifold?** Manifold is generalization of our familiar ideas about curves and surfaces to arbitrary dimensional objects. Manifold is powerful and useful in several fields of theoretical physics such as general relativity (GR), string theory etc. In this seminar I review elementary introduction to manifold in definition, example of manifold and its application in general relativity.Daris Samart

Wed, 6 Jul 2005**What is the Big Bang?** The Big Bang is a theory of origin of the universe. Important foundations which told us about existence of the Big Bang are discovery of the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation (CMB) and expansion of the universe at present. This seminar discusses some problems that can not be explained by the theory.Chakkrit Kaeonikhom

Wed, 20 Jul 2005**About Green’s Function** This seminar focuses on Green’s function that is a new way to solve nonhomogeneous differential equations. We discuss how Green’s function is defined and show how to solve differential equations with this method.Pimpimon Khomwong

Wed, 17 Aug 2005**The Role of Virial Theorem in Classical Statistical Mechanics** Virial theorem exists not only in classical and quantum mechanics but also in statistical mechanics. This theorem tells us about average kinetic energy of the system. It is shown that equation of state of an ideal gas may be derived from virial theorem in classical statistical mechanics. Besides, for virial theorem still leads to equation of state of a gas composed of interacting molecules, which may be alternatively derived via classical cluster expansion.Chanun Sricheewin

Wed, 31 Aug 2005**What is Mechanical Resonance?** In general, when systems of particles with oscillation amplitude are acted on by a periodic series of impulses, it will be in resonance state which yield highest amplitude of oscillation. This talk is to introduce meaning of mechanical resonance to junior undergraduate students.Pornpichai Poomdonming

Wed, 14 Sep 2005**Caculus of Variation** We will discuss how to find stationary values of functions of a single variable f(x), of several variables f(x,y,…) and of constrained variables, which f(x,y,…) is subjected to the n constraints g_{i} (x,y,…) = 0 , i = 1,2,…,n. In all these case the forms of the function f and gi were known, and the problem was found values of the variables x,y etc.Doungkamol Nonjuy
