IF Colloquium No.5 – ” Physics of compact objects (some aspects) “

📣 IF invites you to the No.5 IF Colloquium (Online Seminar Series)
📌 Title: ” Physics of compact objects (some aspects) “
📌 Speaker: Supakchai Ponglertsakul, Ph.D.
(Lecturer in Physics, Strong gravity group, department of physics, Silpakorn university, Thailand)
📌 Abstract: In gravitational waves and black hole shadow era, physics in strong
gravity regime becomes more accessible with higher precision. Pattern
of gravitational waves from coalescence binary objects provide basic information
about their sources i.e. mass and spin. On the other hand,
near-horizon structure from shadow observation could reveal a deviation
from general relativity. In this talk, I will review how these observations
can be used to uncover some physics of compact objects. In particular, I
will briefly discuss black hole quasinormal modes and physics of neutron
star.
